Focus Rabaa – The first Inter GCC Rally
comes to Oman

6 Celebrity teams from 6 GCC countries
are involved in an epic 4000 km rally –
The Focus Rabaa. These teams will arrive
in Oman on the 1st of May. Passionate
fans awaiting an opportunity to meet and
interact with all the teams can do so at
the Ford Showroom in Wattayah in the
evening on the 1st of May.
Focus Rabaa is part of the launch
activities surrounding Ford's much-loved
and highly successful model – the all
new Ford Focus.
Focus Rabaa (Rabaa referring to a group
of friends in the Khaleeji dialect)
encourages participating teams to
completely experience the advanced
segment-first technologies and driving
dynamics of the All New Focus. This 4000
km race comprises of 6 teams (3 members
per team) from 6 GCC countries. Each
team is promoted and supported by an
international celebrity from their
respective country, who will also adorn
the role of the Captain.
It is not a speed race – it is a
competition to solve puzzles and clues,
received through the Focus in-car
technology, that leads to new
destinations where unique pit stop
challenges will take place. Each high
energy challenge will include high
levels of entertainment value. These
activities are intended to highlight the
many attributes of the ‘All New’ Ford
Focus, a highly popular and acknowledged
model the world-over. Some of the awards
the Focus has received include being
named to Car and Driver’s 10 Best list,
Automobile Magazine’s - All Stars and
Connected World magazine’s - Connected
Car of the Year 2012.
‘Focus Rabaa’ is an exciting and
gripping competition that will comprise
of a series of challenges along the way.
Beginning in Jeddah in the Kingdom of
Saudia Arabia, the participants will
drive a route that leads them to Kuwait
City, through to Bahrain to Qatar and
onwards to Muscat via Abu Dhabi and will
end in Dubai. To win, the ‘Focus Rabaa’
Rally, teams will have to display their
problem solving skills as well as garner
online and offline participation and
support of fans from their country.
The final challenge of the ‘Focus Rabaa’
Rally will take place at the iconic Burj
Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates,
in early May, after which, the team that
successfully finishes all seven
challenges and earns the most points
overall will win an all new 2012 Ford
Focus for each team member.
Another unique feature of this
competition is how social media is being
used as an integral part of the contest.
All the participants were selected
through an online interactive process
hosted at Ford Middle East's Facebook
page. In a bid to increase the levels of
excitement surrounding this unique
rally, Ford will also produce an online
series documenting the activities, with
a new entertaining video episode
produced each day of the rally. This
exciting Rally also keeps the fans
hooked-on through the offer of a grand
prize - All New Ford Focus for the

The national team captains on board the
Focus Rabaa are celebrities from each
country: The team Captain for Oman 'Qadiroon'
is the world-famous Adventurer, Nabil Al
Busaidi. And the Omani team members are
Azzan Abdul Amir Hameed, Faisal Fadhil
Mahmood Al Bakri and Abdullah Said Al-Kharusi.

Nabil Al Busaidi, the Oman team captain
is an adventurer who has accomplished
major feats like walking the whole 650
km from Resolute Bay to the magnetic
North Pole in 2009; becoming the first
Omani to climb Antarctica's highest
mountain, Mount Vinson, and the first
Arab to row over 4,600 kms across the
Atlantic Ocean.
